  MUSIC FOR CALCULATED FIGURES

RECORDED MUSIC

There are many good recordings of music for Calculated Figures dances.   Most are on CDs, but a few are available only on cassette.   All of the recordings are referenced in the Dance Index.

MARSHALL BARRON MUSIC BOOKS

I am pleased to announce that Marshall Barron has created three-part arrangements for all the music in the first six volumes of the Calculated Figures series.   The music is organized in five books.  Click here to get all the detail.

These are wonderful books.   Every musical person should have copies.   Everybody knows that Marshall is the master of beautiful, interesting, and extremely dancy arrangements.   They are fun to play even if you do not have dancers in front of you; and with dancers, they are perfect.  I am so pleased that Marshall has created the series.   No one could do it better.

IIIB?: IS IT IN BARNES?

I cannot tell you how many times I have been asked this question about the tunes for my dances.   I am pleased to say that quite a few of the tunes ARE in Kate Barnes' books.   Here is a list.

SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS

Here are complete arrangements for some of the tunes that appear in Prime Calculated Figures.   There simply was not enough room to include them in the book.

Cold Comfort:   Widmann's Arrangement
Leaps and Bounds:   Three-Part Arrangement
Playing (in) the Field:   Handel's Arrangement
Unionville Square:   Nocturne Moved to Gm
Vivaldi in Paradise:   Second Line

And here are complete arrangements for some of the tunes that appear in Odd Calculated Figures.

Belle of Amherst:   Widmann's Arrangement
Birthday Branle:   Jensen's Arrangement

I have made minor musical corrections in a few of my published dances.   If you are interested in seeing them, go to New Dances and Old.
